Caramel Karma
Caramel Karma is a chocolate and caramel cookie built around the combination that has earned its status: caramel and sea salt against a chocolate base. Crave's version gives the format more room to work with than the standard execution.
The base is a rich chocolate dough — darker and denser than Crave's standard vanilla, with a bittersweet depth that holds up against the sweetness coming from above. It bakes into the thick, domed deep-dish format, with the center staying gooey and the edges developing a slight crisp. The chocolate dough is the structural anchor here, and the recipe is rich enough that it would be a complete cookie on its own.
Caramel runs through the build in two forms. Inside the cookie, caramel is incorporated into the dough, adding a sweet, slightly buttery richness throughout. On the surface, a Ghirardelli caramel drizzle runs across the top in a generous application. The Ghirardelli source matters: it's a more complex caramel than a standard dessert drizzle, with a depth that reads as darker and slightly more bitter before the sweetness lands.
Sea salt finishes the cookie. Applied to the surface, it's coarse enough to be encountered as distinct crystals rather than dissolved into the background. The salt cuts the combined sweetness of the chocolate dough and caramel, sharpens both flavors, and provides the contrast that makes this combination feel complete rather than one-note.
Caramel and sea salt doing the thing they always do. This cookie just gave it more room.
